AngelinaBeadalina, or just plain ol' Ang, that's me. I am M-O-M, wife, daughter, booklover, half spiritual/half smartass, and GLASS SCULPTOR. I sculpt faces. I sculpt masks. I sculpt Madonnas. I sculpt Buddhas. I sculpt the Goddesses
. . . and I sculpt the FEMALE FIGURE. Uh, no, unfortunately for my husband's fantasy life, this does not mean I have a thing for women. What I have a "thing" for is sculpting the feminine form because the process lends me strength and courage and wisdom in some hard-to-explain yet decidedly mystical way.
Each of my very best creations comes with a story, a personality. . . Okay, so the bad ones have stories and personalities, too, I admit it. Oh,and I don't really believe they speak to me, but they do "speak" to me and let me know their stories.
The creations and their stories come when I let myself open my mind to the flow of the glass as it is melting. I may have plans to melt and shape a mask, but if the molten glob of glass on the end of the mandrel starts looking more like the bountiful hips and belly of an abundant Mother Earth, then Mother Earth wins my attention. If a pedestal comes out of the kiln looking very pretty but not like it belongs to the goddess with which I intended to pair it, then I don't throw the pair away-- I put them on my desk and wait for the right pieces to eventually come together.
Oh, I love the flame, love melting and shaping molten glass, and I hope this little bit of rambling intrigues you enough to make you want to see all my creations!
